Alec and I met during our freshman year at the University of Central Florida. We met through mutual friends in our dorm area and eating space. If we are being completely honest, neither of us were interested in each other at first. Alec was pretty shy, and I remember cracking jokes that he wouldn’t laugh at (maybe I just wasn’t funny). We rarely talked to each other and only hung out in groups. Towards the end of Fall semester, we finally bonded over silly YouTube videos and started hanging out alone to watch Game of Thrones (total nerd alert). We kept in touch over winter break and I started to think that I might be interested in him as more than a friend. During the start of Spring semester, a mutual friend found out that we both liked each other and crafted a plan to get us together. Our mutual friend basically told us both, in private, that we liked each other. After a week of waiting to be asked out on a date, I started to get inpatient. So instead of waiting, I asked him out first! We made our relationship official on February 2nd, 2014 in Alec’s hometown of Stuart, Florida. Nearly five years later on January 17th, 2019, Alec got down on one knee in the center of a frozen lake in Keystone, Colorado. Would I marry him? Of course I would. It was the easiest question I had ever been asked. In a way, Alec and I grew up with each other, from the simpler, carefree college days, to adulthood with real-world responsibilities. We are truly grateful for all of the experiences we have shared and how our love and commitment to one another, has only grown stronger over the years. We cannot wait to become husband and wife and embark on a lifetime of adventures. We hope you'll share this next step with us.
