FAQs

Question

How do we get from the airport to Tamarindo?

Answer

From Liberia, you can take a shuttle, private transfer, or rent a car. Shuttles are the most common and easiest option for most guests. If you let Cory and Paige know your flights, we can help arrange shuttles with other people that will be coming.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

We’ll be staying at Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort, but there are also lots of other hotels and Airbnb options nearby depending on your budget and preference.

Question

Is the hotel all-inclusive?

Answer

No, it’s not all-inclusive, but breakfast is included each morning. There are also several restaurants on the property, plus plenty of dining options within walking distance.

Question

Do I need a Passport?

Answer

Yes! Costa Rica is outside the US, so a passport is needed. Please make sure your passport is up to date. If you don't have one, start the process of getting one a minimum of 6 months in advance.

Question

When will Paige & Cory be at the Hotel?

Answer

We will be arriving on Wednesday, May 26th and leaving the morning of Wednesday, June 2nd. After that Cory & Paige will be heading off to another area in Costa Rica for their honeymoon.

Question

Can we stay longer than the wedding weekend?

Answer

Yes! We’ll be there from Wednesday to Wednesday, but you’re welcome to stay for as little or as long as you’d like.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

Not really. Tamarindo is very walkable, and taxis are easy to find if you need them. A car is only helpful if you plan to explore outside of town.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Light, breathable clothing, swimsuits, sandals, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray. It’s warm and beachy, so keep it casual and comfortable. If you will be doing any excursions, bring clothing/shoes for that as well. Don't forget your clothes for the wedding :)

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be outdoors?

Answer

Yes, everything will be outdoors, so plan accordingly for warm weather and a tropical setting. It will also be taking place on the sand so keep that in mind when selecting your shoes.

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

We’ll be there during rainy season, so expect warm weather with a chance of occasional rain showers. Most days are still sunny, but it’s good to be prepared for quick rain bursts that usually pass pretty fast.

Question

Should I exchange currency before I go?

Answer

Not necessarily. U.S. dollars are widely accepted in Tamarindo, and most places also take credit cards. You can exchange USD to Costa Rican Colones if you prefer, but it’s not required. If you are planning on using your credit cards, make sure you let your credit card company know you are traveling out of the country.

Question

Is Costa Rica safe for travelers?

Answer

Yes, Tamarindo is a very popular tourist area and generally considered safe. Like any destination, just use normal travel awareness.

Question

Will my phone work in Costa Rica?

Answer

Yes, most U.S. phones work in Costa Rica, but check with your carrier about international coverage or roaming plans before you go. Wi-Fi is widely available at hotels, restaurants, and cafes in Tamarindo, so you’ll usually be able to stay connected that way too.

Question

Is tipping customary?

Answer

Yes, tipping is appreciated in restaurants, tours, and for drivers, similar to the U.S. (around 10–15% is common).
