Our Story

In 2015, Thomas decided to pursue his Master's in Mechanical Engineering at University of Wisconsin - Madison. One very sunny April day of his second semester, Thomas went to the James Madison Park with other German friends in his program to play sand volleyball. Molly, who was a UW Madison alumnus, also happened to go to the same park that afternoon with her roommate so that she could study for her nursing classes while enjoying the sun. Molly's roommate also loved to play volleyball, and she happened to start a game with several German engineering students. Molly took many many years of German in school, and thought it would be great to practice her language skills, so she joined the next round of volleyball. Several rounds were played, and eventually everyone needed to go home for dinner, and said they'd be back the next day to play in the afternoon. The next day, Molly returned to the park. She took her study materials, but was really hoping to play some more volleyball with everyone from the day before. Unfortunately, it was a Monday and no one ever showed up. Just as she was packing up, Molly noticed that one of the guys from the day before was sitting with his roommate on the grass near the lake. Molly decided to say hi, and asked if they were going to play volleyball again today. The guy said that no one else could make it that day, but he would let her know if they came back to play. He and Molly exchanged phone numbers, and the next week was spent texting in German. By the end of the weekend, Thomas had asked to take Molly out for dinner. 5 years later, and they're both still very happy they went back to the park on that Monday afternoon!
