Our Story

Separate Lives — 2016 Despite living only blocks apart and attending the same party—with the video evidence to prove it—Jake and Molly never crossed paths while at Temple University. Even when Jake moved to New York City with their mutual friend, they were hardly acquaintances, as Molly’s visits always clashed with Jake’s weekend work schedule. Finally, a promotion for Jake and a chance Saturday night party brought them together. His endearing commitment to a silly joke about Kit Kat Big Kats and her bubbly personality and style sparked an instant connection that led to a budding relationship. 2016 – 2019 Despite the distance between Philly and NYC, Molly and Jake managed to continue seeing each other long-distance. After months of Amtrak rides and visits every other weekend, Molly finally moved to Brooklyn and took over Jake’s old apartment. Over the next three years, they explored the city together and got to know each other on a deeper level. Through upstate hikes and camping trips, cooking up new recipes, and solving plenty of escape rooms—including one that locked them in separate coffins on Valentine’s Day—they discovered how fun life can be with someone you love by your side. 2019 — 2022 During the summer of 2019, they got a place of their own in Brooklyn. When the COVID lockdown happened early the next year, they made their 500 square foot space a haven from the uncertainty and stresses of the pandemic. They played board game Olympics, ping pong on the dining room table, and dressed up for fancy home-cooked meals. Despite the difficulties of those few years, they continued to grow, and their love deepened. Although an engagement was still far off, they decided to spend their lives together and looked forward to whatever the future might bring. 2022 — 2025 As the worst of the pandemic came to an end, they sought a change of scenery. As Molly applied to grad school, Jake turned even more of his attention to comedy, and when the chance to move to Los Angeles came, it felt right. So they packed up their belongings—as well as their beloved dog, Grizzy—and embarked on a cross-country road trip to their new home. Through the highs and lows of her MA program and building his YouTube channel into a full-time job, they learned how to truly support one another. 2025 — 2026 After nearly a decade of discovering hidden talents, life values, and idiosyncrasies, they finally got engaged on their trip to Japan in November of 2025. They are busy ironing out all the final details of their wedding celebrations and looking forward to whatever challenges and joys their future together brings.
