Check out Molly and Ben’s first (and beloved) neighborhood in Richmond – Church Hill! Grab a coffee from Riverbend Roastery or a savory New Zealand hand-pie from Proper Pie Co. Take your eats and drinks on the road for a “best view in the city” stroll around Libby Hill Park or picnic in Chimborazo. If you’re looking to sit down with a beer and some food, The Hill Cafe or Union Market are classic choices. If you’re feeling brave, go vibe with the metal music and colorful menu at Cobra Burger, where the smash burgers won a national award. For an iconic Richmond brunch, head over to Perly’s (be prepared to wait) or for quicker seating (maybe) check out Millie’s (little punky, very Richmond), Lulu’s, or Lunch.Supper! If you’re in town early and need dinner Friday night, some of the best food and sunset views in Richmond can be found on the patio of Blue Atlas. Reservations recommended.
We do! And so does this city. Richmond runs on Falcon. You can get the iconic Falcon Smash at any of the 3 Triple Crossing locations, but Fulton holds the most memories and best outdoor space. If you want to brewery crawl in Scott’s Addition – consider Ardent (Molly’s favorite IPA is right next to our welcome party!), Vasen (Ben recommends the Hef), The Veil or Star Hill. But some of Richmond’s best beer can be found outside of it’s most boozy neighborhood. Don’t sleep on Richbrau or Final Gravity. Thirsty but not into beer? We’re disappointed. Just kidding! Few things are better than enjoying a glass of wine on Jardin’s patio. Is it after midnight and you need chicken tenders? Patrick Henry’s basement dive is a great place to end the night. And yes, it’s just down the street from where Patrick Henry really delivered his “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech in 1775.
Richmond sits right on the banks of the James River. Depending on the weather, the water, and its bacteria level, you're unlikely to be going for a float this time of year. But some of our favorite city walks with river views include Belle Isle, Brown's Island and the Canal Walk, Texas Beach and the North Bank, and the Capital Trail. If you're traveling from outside Virginia and looking for a reason to extend your trip, Shenandoah National Park is 1.5 hours from Richmond, and there might even be a pop of color in the leaves!
For a delightful afternoon downtown, try to "Hole the Hellmouth" at the Hotel Greene's indoor mini golf course, or make your own candle at Wick and Sip Candle Lounge. BYOB and explore Richmond's ever-changing public art scene on an RVA Tuk Tuk mural tour. If museums are your thing, head to the VMFA for beautiful artwork and beautiful grounds, or to The Poe Museum for a quaint but charming time. Catch a show! We will share live music and events happening in the city as we get closer to the date and more is announced.
