The Philbrook Museum began as a personal residence, Villa Philbrook, built by Tulsa oilman Waite Phillips and his wife Genevieve in 1926-1927. They hired Kansas City architect Edward Buehler Delk to design the Italian Renaissance villa, which Waite Phillips later gifted to the city of Tulsa in 1938 to serve as an art center. We're members at Philbrook and love an afternoon exploring the grounds.
A state-of-the-art history center located at the heart of Tulsa's Greenwood District honoring the legacy of Black Wall Street before and after the Tulsa Race Massacre. The attackers burned and destroyed more than 35 square blocks of the neighborhood—at the time, one of the wealthiest black communities in the United States, colloquially known as "Black Wall Street." Now, the neighborhood is thriving again.
This is worth your time! If you want to commit, add in the Woody Guthrie Center, too.
The Gathering Place was the location of our first date. We ate breakfast at Savoy (another Tulsa great) and then walked around and talked for several hours. A great place to take little ones or just to get outside and experience the best city park in the country (according to USA Today)!
Think Tulsa doesn't have great shopping and luxury? Think again! Utica Square is a quaint, historic shopping center that feels like you're taking a small village stroll. Grab a cae sal at Bar Serra, Molly swears it's the best in town.
An excellent cup of coffee in a cool area of Tulsa. It's one of Ethan Hawke's local Tulsa haunts, so check it out while you're in town!
We LOVE The Vault! It's a unique restaurant in Downtown Tulsa inside of an old bank. Pro tip: order the bruschetta for an app, and get the steak frites!
We love this patio! Even in November, you'll want to sit on their covered patio. Go for happy hour or just apps! This is Sonny's favorite place in Tulsa because he gets to go! This is in a neighborhood called Brookside, which has some great shopping.
Ramen, sushi, and great sake means you can't go wrong with Yokozuna!
An Oklahoma classic! Stop here for a quick bite to eat if you want, but we insist you get ice cream from here before you leave.
Thank us later.
The original Hideway is in Stillwater, OK (Go Pokes!), but the fried mushrooms all taste the same. This is hands down the best pizza!
