HOW WE MET

Is your name Nicole?

We met at a bar the night before Thanksgiving. We were out with friends just looking to dance and have a good time when we bumped into each other on the dance floor. Sam tried to evade Molly’s advances on a few occasions, but Molly knows a great thing when she sees one. The night came to a close and an exchange of phone numbers was on the arrise when Molly said, “Nicole, Right? Shoot nope that’s not right!!” Sam being the playful type reacted with wit and sarcasm “Yep! Nicole that’s what I’m going in your phone as!” Cue friends spying on first dates, Skype conversations from Minnesota to Connecticut, moving in together adopting their trusty companion Deano and another dog and another dog and another dog and another dog and another...duck... and the rest as they say is history

THE PROPOSAL

IN OUR FINEST ATTIRE

It was a Sunday just like any other. Molly and I were settling in for an evening of binge watching after a day of prepping for the week. I was in my favorite sleep shirt that reads, “Fiesta like there’s no manana!” And Molly in a nightie which she fondly calls her “muumuu” I caught myself taking a moment to look over at Molly with Deano cuddled into her chest, and that’s when I knew, this is what I want for the rest of my life. This was the perfect time to propose! As she was fixing us a beverage I ran to the bedroom to retrieve the ring from its spot and stuffed it deep into the couch cushions and waited for the best moment. One episode went by, then another and a third until the ASPCA commercial with Sarah McLaughlin and this was my cue, I couldn’t wait any longer. I resurrected the ring from the depths of the couch, swirled around onto one knee in front of Molly and said, “I have been sitting on this ring, quite literally, for some time now, just looking around our first home together, on our first couch, with our first dog and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I want this, you and us, for the rest of our lives. Will you share this life with me? Will you marry me Molly Elizabeth Swenson?” We shed some tears, she called her parents, and three years later, here we are ready to make that forever ago proposal our forever more vows.
