How We Met

03.13.2014

How we met is one of my favorite things to tell people when they ask. Growing up, we went to different high schools and lived in neighboring counties, but we didn't know of each other. During high school, we were both in FFA (country, I know). In the spring of 2014 on March 13, FFA chapters from different high schools around Kentucky were invited to an FFA convention at Lindsey Wilson College. A couple of my friends and I decided to sit at a table that Nate and his friends were at (mostly my idea because I thought he was so cute). We were being flirts, and exchanged numbers before we left. A year later, he finally texted me and asked if he could take me on a date and of course I said yes! When I first met his mom, she told me that when Nate came home the night we met, he told her that he met an angel that day and that one day he was going to marry me - that is her favorite story to tell still to this day. It's crazy to think back on how everything had to aline perfectly that day for us to even meet and looking to we are now. But, God knew what he was doing and the rest is history... so, picking our wedding date was easy - March 13, 2021. Exactly seven years from the day we met.

The Proposal

12.20.2019

I watch the video of our proposal over and over again, at least once a day. Since we started dating, Nate and I made a tradition to go ice skating at the rink in downtown Lexington and look at the Christmas lights. In December of 2019, I was getting really antsy because for 1. His mom and he are bad at keeping secrets, and I knew something was up (Lol). On December 19, Nate told me that the next day we were meeting our friends, Joe and Megan, in Lexington to go ice skating. The next night, December 20, I was doing my makeup and hair and I could hear romantic country songs playing downstairs (he was really hyping himself up). When we got to Lexington, we ice skated for a while and then decided to take our annual picture in front of the tree downtown and grab supper. As Nate and I were taking our picture, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It is by far my favorite memory to this day, and I am so thankful for him.
