We met in 2015. On the side of the road. At a gas station. In spandex. Luke walked out of the gas station, chowing down on a Snickers bar. Or maybe it was a Payday... doesn't matter. Molly took one look at him and thought, "wait, I haven't seen this guy before on our training rides... Is he single? Who is this guy?" "Molly, this is Luke, Luke, Molly, have you two met?" our friend Alistair introduces us. Luke took one look at Molly and blurted "Hey." He chowed down the rest of his candy bar and with his mouth full he says, "I'm bonking I got to go". And with that very Luke-like moment, he rode off into the distance. A couple months went by, and as fate would have it, Molly landed a freelance gig at the same company Luke worked for. Her first day at work, she pulls up on a motorcycle. In the rain. Wearing bright red Wellingtons. RIGHT OUTSIDE OF LUKE'S WINDOW WHERE HE STARES OUTSIDE. He took one look at Molly out the window and was like, who IS this girl?! Molly walked in, embarrassed to see where Luke sat and quickly walked to her desk, head down, hoping he didn't notice her soaking wet... riding a motorcycle... in bright red rainboots. Luke definitely noticed. A month later we were on the road together, riding bicycles down the coast of California for 6 days raising money for cancer. At a few of the dinner gatherings, Molly made sure to sit next to him, there was something about Luke she was drawn to. She wanted to get to know him. Luke felt the same way, but wasn't so obvious about it. So UNobvious Molly was hardly convinced he was interested. But Luke was. Molly thinks what cinched the deal for Luke was the day she had to change her shirt in front of him on the side of the road, where he happened to be standing (he now says he was waiting for her... lol). Anyway, after a few days of cycling with each other and small talk dinner chats, they found themselves on the last night of their cycling tour sharing a beautiful evening full of Irish car bombs and funny stories at the bar. The rest is none of your business and beautiful history ;) A speech was made that night, (before all the Irish car bombs), that ended with this quote by Winston Churchill: “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” Little did we know - or maybe we knew very well - that this night was the beginning of seven amazing years building a life together with our three children. We have since added two dogs. We question that choice every day. Here's to another beginning that will last our lifetime. Thank you for coming to celebrate with us, in one of our favorite cities. Let's get this party started!!
