Molly and Ken met on the dating app Hinge and had their first date at the old Lakes & Legends Brewery in Loring Park on July 7, 2021. They played some unplanned games of bingo and hit it off right away. After their fourth date, Ken suggested they make their relationship official. While Molly wanted to keep seeing Ken, she explained she needed some time before taking that step. Ken, famously known for his impatience, made an exception and obliged in this case. After their tenth date, Molly told Ken she felt that enough time had passed for her to be ready for a relationship. When Ken pressed Molly to explain what that meant, she said, “I guess that means I want to be your girlfriend.” They’ve been together ever since. Molly and Ken have made so many wonderful memories during their relationship. They love trying new restaurants and have attended many concerts and performances together; in fact, Ken and Molly first said “I love you” after a concert at the Turf Club on December 3, 2021! Molly and Ken took their first big trip together in April 2022, when they visited Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia for the wedding reception of Ken’s friend Aaron. Before and since, Ken and Molly have enjoyed becoming a part of their respective friend groups, which has included attending many of their friends’ weddings (namely, Kelsie & Brad, Alex & Kree, Kaitlin & Dan, Aaron & Manuela, Judd & Aubrey, and Aimee & Sam). Molly and Ken have also cherished spending time with each others’ families, whether at their lake estates or in the Twin Cities. The only exception would be the time Todd nearly struck Ken with an errant firework. On May 20, 2023, Molly and Ken moved in together into the upper level of a duplex in NE Minneapolis. Molly and Ken love living next to Logan Park and close to many fun restaurants and coffee shops. While Molly looks forward to having more space in the future, Molly and Ken’s cat Tortilla Chip is more than satisfied with their apartment; she has plenty of windows for monitoring the local fauna, as well as a wide variety of prime nap spots, including nestled among Molly’s sweaters in the closet. It didn’t take Molly and Ken very long after moving in together to learn that they were compatible housemates, each of whom had something unique to offer. Molly introduced Ken to the magic of regular, home-cooked meals, and Ken introduced Molly to the finer points of interior design, most notably with respect to the display of LEGO sets. Living together, Molly and Ken discovered a new level of comfort and happiness. Ken and Molly visited Ken’s parents at Pearl Lake for Thanksgiving 2023. They planned to go out to dinner for Molly’s 33rd birthday the day before, but Ken had something else in mind to make this birthday her most memorable yet. Before they were about to leave, Ken stopped Molly to present her with a birthday card, which he awkwardly requested she read immediately. As she did, Ken got down on one knee and proposed to Molly, while Ken’s brother Mike filmed the proposal from his secret vantage point in the loft and Ken’s sister Ivy in New York watched via security camera live feed. To no one’s surprise, Molly said yes. Ken presented Molly with an engagement ring that belonged to his great-great-great grandmother Ella Crandall Deput, and had been in his family for approximately 170 years. Later, Mike revealed that he had created an entire news package memorializing the day of the proposal, which has to be the finest work of romantic espionage ever conducted. Mike’s engagement video (see the Gallery page) is something Molly and Ken will treasure forever. Ken and Molly cannot wait to celebrate their love with all their friends and family in April 2025. Naturally, they are excited for what is already being proclaimed the premiere dance party of the twenty-twenties, but more than that, they cannot wait to thank each of you personally for being such an important part of their lives.
