Our Journey

First Comes School, Then Comes Marriage

Molly and Jamisen have known each other since seventh grade. While they didn’t interact much back then, they attended school together throughout middle school and were always aware of one another—after all, they were backyard neighbors and even shared a few honors classes. By high school, they were still mutual friends, but as the years went on, they found themselves in the same friend group more often. Group study sessions slowly turned into smaller groups, which eventually became one-on-one “study dates.” As they spent more time together, mutual interest grew. Molly was drawn to Jamisen’s kindness and intelligence, while Jamisen admired Molly’s determination and her loving, caring heart. They made things official halfway through senior year and were excited to finish high school side by side and step into adulthood together. Then, in March 2020, COVID struck—turning their senior year and the very beginning of their relationship into something neither of them could have imagined. Virtual dates and FaceTime calls quickly became the norm, especially as they headed off to college. Molly’s bright mind led her to the University of Dayton, where she studied Mechanical Engineering, while Jamisen’s inquisitive nature took him to Bowling Green State University to study Psychology. The two navigated every challenge of long distance throughout college, seeing each other when they could during the semesters, but cherishing summers at home when time together felt endless. During their time apart, both Molly and Jamisen grew individually and spiritually, becoming their own people while remaining united by one constant—Christ. Now back home in Elyria, they’ve started their careers and are beginning their forever together through marriage. Coming over to each other’s parents’ houses after work will turn into coming home to each other, and future family walks with Gracie are just getting started. By trusting in God's plan, “See you next month” became “See you tomorrow,” and now it’s finally become “See you in the morning—every morning, for the rest of our lives.” Ecclesiastes 4:9
