Our story began in a predictable, millenial fashion: on social media. I commented on a post. He commented on the same post, mocking me. His reply sparked my "and who are you?!" defensive reply. He promptly set the record straight (yet conveniently left out the part about how he would one day be my husband!), and the rest is history.
Flash forward six years to the day we (virtually) met. Jake had been prepping me for our early Valentine's Day celebration (that I all but threw a tantrum over, by the way!). Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays, and I didn't understand why we needed an early celebration when we would be spending that day together anyway. He talked me into it, and I went along with it. We spent the day at the movies, playing the arcade games at the bowling alley (one of our favorite things to do together), then had a romantic dinner at the 501 Steakhouse. When we returned home from dinner, Jake stopped me next to the back door and told me that he had a surprise for me and wanted me to close my eyes. I heard him rummaging around in another room, and my heart started racing. He came back and told me I could open my eyes - I hesitated. He reassured me that it was okay to open my eyes. When I did, he was holding something (hint: a ring box) behind his back. He began by reminding me that, before we started dating, we both said we didn't want a long distance relationship, but that he was so glad we both went against those instincts. He told me all of the reasons why he loves me, and got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I said yes! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you! See you in Memphis!
