Molly and Elissa met online in October 2017, when Elissa made a sarcastic comment and Molly LOL’d. Their relationship was long distance and they weren’t able to see each other in person at all until 9 months later, when they met for the first time in Lilydale, NY. They’ll both say that they knew they loved each other before that moment, but the moment their eyes met for the first time it felt like coming home. Molly first proposed to Elissa in the Cleveland Museum of Art in October of 2018, shortly after their one-year anniversary. It was a surprise that Molly tried to get on video, but the staff member didn’t understand how to use the phone camera and ended up completely shutting off Molly’s phone instead. Their friends were upset that they couldn’t see the proposal, but honestly Elissa found it to be pretty funny and now it’s a story they both tell with laughter. Elissa moved to Ohio to be with Molly at the end of 2019, just in time to get comfortable before a worldwide pandemic. For the next couple of years, they began to build a life together, finding wonderful friends and welcoming their sweet puppy Petunia in June of 2020. Eventually in the Spring of 2021 they moved to Buffalo, and now they share a small one-bedroom that they are grateful to call “home.” There were moments of the journey that seemed so difficult, but they fought hard for their love. They are so excited to celebrate their commitment to each other gathered with their friends and families.
