Dom & Molly - Dates in Thailand

From 2nd to 26th November Dom and I will be travelling to Thailand ahead of time to prepare everything. It’s entirely up to each guest whether you’d like to join us for our wedding at the start or end of your holiday. We will be staying in the Cross Vibe Bangkok Sukhumvit (see hotel link bellow), we'd advise that our guest stay in the same hotel or hotels close by from 9th Nov - 15 Nov, this is as we will be going for days/evening out as a group so it will make it easier to meet up/get home. We will also be arranging transport to and from the wedding venue from this location. For thoese looking stay else where for convenience and a taste of local life, we recommend booking accommodation between On Nut and Phra Khanong SkyTrain stations, as this area offers excellent transport links to the rest of Bangkok. 🕒 Time Zone Bangkok is 7 hours ahead of the UK in November. Vaccinations Hepatitis A is the main vaccination that you may want to consider getting prior to the holiday. Other vaccinations can be recommended as well depending on any other travel plans you have whilst in South East Asia. For any concerns we recommend speaking with your local GP. 🛂 Visa & Entry UK citizens can stay up to 60 days for tourism without a visa. Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival. Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): Must be completed online within 72 hours of your flight. Only use the official portal! It is free (so please do not get scammed) VIA GOV.UK - copy & paste the below https://tdac.immigration.go.th/arrival-card/#/home MAKE SURE YOU BOOK ON PRIVATE/INCOGNITO AND ONLY LOOK IF YOU ARE BOOKING TO AVOID THE COSTS INCREASING. **Flights to Bangkok 🇹🇭** Bangkok is served by two major airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). Most international flights from London arrive into Suvarnabhumi (BKK), which is the main airport and closest to central Bangkok. If you’re planning to travel around Thailand or Southeast Asia before or after the wedding, you may find yourself using either airport, as both serve domestic and regional routes.

✈️ Travel Guidance 🌍 Flight Route Recommendations If you’re not flying direct, we recommend considering routes via China rather than the Gulf region at the moment. This is due to ongoing regional uncertainty, although this may change depending on when you book. Some flight search engines may still suggest Gulf routes based on expected updates, so it’s worth checking carefully. 🔍 Searching & Booking Flights We suggest using search tools such as KAYAK or Momondo to compare options, but booking directly with the airline where possible. While this can sometimes be slightly more expensive, it offers much greater flexibility, support, and ease if you need to amend or cancel your booking. 🇨🇳 Chinese Airline Options Flying with Chinese airlines often includes a short layover (typically 1–2 hours). Alternatively, you can take advantage of visa-free transit options (up to 72 hours) in cities such as Beijing or Guangzhou—perfect if you’d like to turn your journey into a mini stopover and explore somewhere new. 💺 Airline Quality & Pricing Airlines such as China Southern and Air China offer a level of comfort comparable to many Western carriers, with return fares in November often around £450. 🛫 Direct Flight Options If you prefer to fly direct, there are several great options from London to Bangkok. EVA Air is particularly well regarded for its service, often including two 23kg checked bags, with return fares around £700. Other direct options include British Airways, Thai Airways, and Norse Atlantic. You may also find good routes via hubs such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Vietnam. Taxi Service : Grab

🚖 Getting from the Airport Taxi Service at the Airport (Recommended) Taxis from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to central Bangkok are available 24 hours a day from Level 1 of the airport. Fares typically range from THB 300–500 (£7–£12), including tolls and a THB 50 airport surcharge, and the journey usually takes 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic. Important Tip ⚠️ Please make sure you only take a metered taxi. You can always ask the driver before getting in—if they don’t use a meter, simply decline and choose another taxi. If you follow the official airport taxi system outlined below, your driver will always use the meter. How It Works 📍 Head to Level 1 at the airport Take a queue ticket from the taxi machine Proceed to your assigned bay Your driver will use the meter automatically Costs 💸 Your final fare will include: Metered fare THB 50 airport surcharge Highway tolls (approx. THB 75) Ride-Hailing Apps 📱 Apps such as Grab and Bolt are also reliable options. Grab has a designated pick-up booth at Gate 4, Level 1. Other Transport Options 🚆 For a cheaper (and sometimes quicker) option, you can use the Airport Rail Link or public buses, though these may be less convenient with luggage. Avoid Touts 🚫 Please only use official taxi ranks or ride-hailing apps, and ignore anyone inside the airport offering unofficial taxi services. Cash 💵 We recommend having some Thai Baht on hand, as most taxis will require cash payment.

BTS Skytrain and MRT

🚆 Getting Around Bangkok Bangkok has a modern and efficient public transport system, making it easy to get around the city. The two main networks are: BTS Skytrain (an elevated railway) MRT (the underground subway system) Both are clean, safe, and ideal for avoiding Bangkok’s traffic. 💳 Paying for Transport You can use contactless debit or credit cards on the MRT, and this is expected to be available on the BTS as well. If you plan to pay this way, we recommend using a card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees. Alternatively, you can purchase single journey tokens from ticket machines at each station. For convenience, you may wish to get a Rabbit Card 🐰 (a stored-value travel card for the BTS). These can be purchased at BTS ticket counters with your passport and topped up as needed—perfect if you’ll be making multiple journeys. 🚕 Other Ways to Get Around Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab and Bolt are also widely available and affordable, especially for shorter journeys or late at night. Overall, getting around Bangkok is very easy, and we recommend using a mix of public transport and taxis depending on your plans.

🏨 Accommodation We will be staying in the On Nut area for the majority of our time in Bangkok, and we’d love for you to join us there if you’d like to stay nearby. We are currently looking into arranging a discount code for guests. Unfortunately, it still works out cheaper to book the hotel individually. Other Nearby Options 🛏️ There are plenty of great alternatives in the surrounding areas of On Nut and Phra Khanong, which are both well-connected by the BTS Skytrain. These include: Mid-range options such as Kokotel and Cross Vibe (On Nut) Ibis Styles (Phra Khanong) There are also many Airbnb options in Bangkok around both the Phra Khanong and On Nut area. These usually consist of apartments in skyscraper towers often with swimming pools, W District in Phra Khanong is highly recommended for quite a vibrant nightlife and eating area right on the doorstep. Wherever you choose to stay one of the most important factors is making sure that you are close to the Sky Train or BTS as that is the most convenient way of travelling around Bangkok, Booking Tips 💡 We recommend using hotel comparison websites such as Trivago to explore options and find the best rates. As with flights, you may wish to book directly with the hotel after comparing prices for added flexibility. No matter where you choose to stay, Bangkok’s excellent transport links make it easy to get around and join all wedding events.
