I moved to Bossier City, LA and was working at a Veterinarian Clinic awaiting my acceptance in to PTA school and Chris was stationed at Barskdale AFB, also located in Bossier City. We were attending the same church and went to a new class that launched for Young Adults. We ended up sitting at the same table a few classes in and struck up conversation each Sunday for a while, then he stopped showing up. The Young Adults leader's wife asked if I had heard from him lately and to invite him back for a pancake breakfast we started having on the first Sunday of each month. I used my very professional FBI skills to find him on Facebook and reached out to ask how he'd been and invite him back. He then used the "excuse" of having to bring his dog in to the vet not once, but twice, and then finally asked me on a date. I went on three dates with him before I told anyone about him. Then I introduced him to my parents and brother when we celebrated finding out that I was accepted in to PTA school. The rest is history!
Chris's Mom and Step-Dad always go on vacation in the summer time to Costa Rica or Jamaica - they invited us to go to Costa Rica in 2021 with them, and I thought nothing of it besides absolutely yes to vacation! Amber (Chris's mom) casually mentioned that we should invite my parents as well and they said yes and booked their trip with us right away, and this is where my spidey senses started tingling. Fast forward to being in Costa Rica, I tried not to let myself get to excited incase it was all in my head, but I was very curious around dinners we would have each night, assuming that a sunset on the beach would be where he would do it. On our third day there it was a little rainy, but we had an ATV tour planned and they drove us around to some of the beaches there and showed us around. We stopped at a small store to let people use the restroom, and I saw one of the tour guides buy some little cups and I thought "what a strange time to buy those, but I guess he needs them and won't have to stop later." Then they told us our last stop was one of the prettiest beaches that the locals like to go to. When we got there we all stopped and they told us we could get in the water if we wanted, so obviously I ran down and got in. When I turned around everyone else was just standing on the shore so I started walking back toward them. We started taking a couple pictures, then my mom handed me her phone to take a selfie of all of us. I held the phone up and Amber kept looking up and down and Chris popped his head up and down and no one was squeezing in for the picture so I just took it of myself and my parents. When I turned around to hand her the phone back Chris walked through the middle of them and got down on one knee right there! Although I had been suspecting the proposal on this trip, when and where he did it was a complete surprise! (and those little cups the tour guide bought at the store? they brought a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate with!)
