On the island, the preferred way to get around is by walking, riding bikes, or renting golf carts. Depending on where you stay, most everything is walking distance. You will only need a car to get to and from the church on Saturday during the day. St. Francis of Assisi is off the island and about 15 minutes away from The Inn. Please keep in mind there is a $6 toll to get back on the island.
No, there are so many great options on the island! The houses are darling, there are many cute hotels and Bed & Breakfasts on the island, and of course the Gasparilla Inn is spectacular! We would just suggest to stay as close to the main part of the town as possible..close to the Gasparilla Inn and the Beach Club! Also, please keep in mind that if you are interested in playing golf, tennis, croquet, using the spa, or having access to the Beach Club during the day for pool time, drinks, lunch, etc.. you have to be a guest at the Gasparilla Inn to use the facilities
Uber is available to take you from the airport to your hotel or rental house. Please keep in mind, there is a $6 toll you will have to pay to get to the island. However, if you would like to take an Uber back to the airport on the day you depart, you will need to get your Uber driver's number and set this ride up prior. There are no Ubers on the island!
Of course! Please do! Just email Molly at straeter.molly@gmail.com
You definitely do not need to but it does make the island all the more accessible! Try Kappy's or Gasparilla Adventures!
Off the island, you will find a Publix Grocery Store. On the islands, Hudson's Grocery is a little market in the middle of the town! (Look for the pink gas pump!) It is small and closed on Sunday. Kappys Market also has snacks, beer, wine, and even a pharmacy section to get you back on your feet if needed! There is a great selection of wines and spirits located in the Temptation Restaurant. Just head to the main bar and ask where their liquor store is!
Those staying at the Gasparilla Inn will have access to the Gasparilla Inn Beach Club at 451 Gilchrist Avenue. If you are not staying there, you can walk onto the beach just north of the Beach Club-where 5th Street dead ends at the water- and simply join our friends on the beach! There is a fun public beach just north of the Range Lighthouse at 220 Gulf Boulevard that features bathroom facilities. Another great beach is at the state park on the island's southern tip. Just follow Gulf Boulevard south until you can not go any further!
