I don't know anything about Colombia, where do I start?

Is it safe?

Colombia has come a long way since the 90s! At this point, it is safe to visit, and also has SO MUCH to offer! Colombia boasts vibrant cities, stunning landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Places like Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena are full of historical sites, delicious cuisine, and lively music scenes. The natural beauty is breathtaking, from the Andes mountains to Caribbean beaches and lush Amazon rainforests. While there are still some places within the country where you need to be careful, you should feel confident visiting if you take basic precautions. At the most basic- don't drive through rural areas you don't know well! Major cities and tourist destinations are safe and you should feel confident visiting. If you're still feeling nervous, keep in mind a few tips: - Take Ubers instead of local cabs to feel confidence about safety - Spend time in more heavily trafficked tourist locations with lots of shops and businesses - Don't walk alone on the street at night - Be cautious with your valuables--> it's not a great idea to flash obviously expensive items in public areas - Learn basic Spanish. Colombians are very hospitable and welcoming, and this allows you to speak to people around you if you have questions or concerns while traveling around.

What do I wear?

Wear what you feel comfortable in! Weather in Bogotá is consistent year round, so it will be warm in the sun, cool in the shade and at night. For the wedding- wear whatever you want that makes you feel festive, celebratory, and fun!

Is there a shuttle to/from the airport?

Answer

The hotels will accommodate pick ups and drop offs. If you are staying at an Airbnb or hostel, there are taxis that will take you to the door for an affordable price.
