The Beginning

04/21/2017

In 2017, Molly had just moved up to Minnesota, while Kyle was living in Milwaukee. Without knowing it, both of us were in McHenry for the weekend to visit with friends. Kyle was on his way to Brunch with Kyle Clark (Groomsman) who said "I think Molly is in town, we should ask her to meet us." The three of us regularly did this over the summers during college so neither of us thought twice about it at the time. During brunch, Molly said "Kyle, I have a wedding coming up next month and I think it would be a lot of fun if you came with me as my plus one." Neither of us anticipated that going to a wedding as friends would lead to a romantic relationship, but on 4/21/2017, Kyle's good dance moves and Molly's sense of humor sparked the start of the rest of our lives. The day after the wedding, we went to Chicago with some of our best friends-Cait Obenauf (Bridesmaid), Alex Obenauf, Courtney Bravo (Bridesmaid), and Jared Bravo. To both of our surprise we held hands, flirted, and laughed, the entire day. Lucky enough, ended the day with a kiss at Finns in Crystal Lake. Soon after that weekend, Molly was taking the detours to Milwaukee and Kyle was making the five and a half hour drive up to St. Paul every weekend he could. Fast forward a few months, Kyle was looking to change jobs and wanted to move up to Minneapolis to be closer to the woman he loved in late 2017. After a couple of weeks of searching for a new job and home, Kyle made the big leap. This has been our home ever since.

The Proposal

November 21, 2020

It was like any normal Saturday in our household: morning coffee, chatting, and deciding what we were going to do for the day. Kyle had been cooped up in the house all week working from home (COVID). Both Kyle and Molly had decided that a walk/hike was needed for some fresh crisp, November in Minnesota, air. This is something that we do often, so like previously mentioned, a normal day. Molly had decided on the hike for the day, which was Long Meadow Lake Trail. We began our hike going over the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge, where it overlooked the Minnesota River. While walking down the trail, Kyle had asked what Molly was looking forward to in 2021. Molly's response was, "Do you want my real answer or my fake answer?" Kyle of course responded, "Real answer." Molly proceeded to say, "Well, hopefully a wedding!" Kyle laughed it off and completely disregarded the statement. Later during the hike, there was a wooded area that Kyle had saw and wanted to go explore, but instead, we stayed on course. Walking back though, Kyle had insisted that both go in and hike around. After joking around, Kyle and Molly sat down on a large fallen tree to take a self-timed picture. Little did Molly know, Kyle was setting up a video. Kyle then turned to Molly who was sitting down, grabbed her hand, and said "Well baby, I hope your 2021 dream comes true... Will you marry me?" Of course, Molly said YES! and then started jumping up and down. November 21, 2020 was one of the best days of Kyle and Molly's lives to date!
