Our story, surprisingly, began when we were children. When the Scotts moved to Illinois, they bought a home three blocks away from my family's home. Even when both our families moved, as we grew older, we remained within 4 blocks of each other. We had the same small playground that we went to on a regular basis (Tot Lot) but never met. We went to the same elementary school, middle school and junior high and still, never met, until High School. In High School, we finally got introduced on the speech team in 2006. We got to know each other a little better on the stage in the performance of Fools (Mollie played Sophia and Andrew played her father). Andrew graduated in 2007 and I graduated the following year. After years away at our separate colleges, we ran into each other at Parkside (our hometown gym). Andrew was working out and I was there with my special olympic summer day campers. Andrew reached out via facebook to ask to hang out. I responded sure, as long as we hang out as friends (I had just got out of a long relationship and wasn't ready to date). However, before we met up, Andrew messaged me that he was moving to Colorado, it was a sudden decision but a good one. He had gone to the Rockies and decided he needed to live there. I continued working as a Kindergarten Teacher at Willow School back home. The following spring I went out to Denver to visit one of my best friends, Allie Bonnom. After that visit, I made the leap to move to Denver myself (Let's make this very clear, I DID NOT follow Andrew to Colorado- it was a coincidence, which I will continue to correct Andrew's version of this story). We hung out as friends in Denver, mainly in group settings, at parties, dinners and at Andrew's Lakewood house. From 2015 to 2022 we flirted with each other, but we were always dating other people. On April 16, 2022, Andrew came to my 32nd birthday party at my house. After many laughs, convincing Andrew to get on my aerial rig outside and quite a few silly photos later, Chris Werth told me that I looked really happy hanging out with Andrew, and he was right. We went on our first date the next day. On our one year anniversary we rented out a cabin in Estes Park and spent a day in the Rocky Mountains, a place we truly love (and are excited to share with our loved ones). After a year and a half of dating, Andrew bought a ring and called my mom for her blessing. He made her promise not to tell anyone until he proposed, which Lisa kept, for 3 days, and for her, that was pretty good. Before Andrew could even propose, all of my siblings knew I was going to be engaged. For Thanksgiving, Andrew planned a trip to Telluride, a place I've always wanted to visit in Colorado. We started our trip in Ouray, CO in a cabin, where we continued our T-Hanks-giving traditions of watching Tom Hanks movies and going to hot springs. After an interesting adventure at Orvis Hot Springs, we continued our road trip to Telluride. The impending snow storm did not stop our dinner reservations or our gondola ride to the top of the mountain. However it did block, what would have been, a gorgeous view. The next morning on Sunday, November 26th we were ready to start our long 6 hour drive home, however the sun had come out and it was a beautifully clear day. Andrew suggested that we go up the gondola one more time. After getting coffee and tea, we loaded back into the Gondola and rode it up to the top. As we began to descend from the mountain, Andrew said he had one more surprise for me and pulled out a ring. He knelt down in the gondola and proposed. I cried and said yes right away. We are very excited to share our love of Rockies with all of you. Please join us as we celebrate our long journey of falling in love and finding each other in the mountains.
