Our full story episode (caution: it's long lol sorry)
We met at MIT in Mojo's last year as a student and Christina's first year as MIT Cru staff. However, it was after his graduation in 2022 that our friendship kickstarted. We attended the same church in Cambridge, and as he was seeking to invest in and establish community there, Christina helped him with just that. From then, we started spending more time with each other, and in the summer of 2023, those times became every week. By the fall, everyone—except Mojo—was wondering whether there was something going on between us. Christina really enjoyed her friendship with Mojo and was absolutely terrified when she realized she had developed feelings for him. She wasn't about to say anything to him but was patiently waiting for him to say something. When he asked her to go to Snowy Owl, a coffee shop in Cape Cod, with him, she thought that it would be the day he'd ask her out. Why else would someone ask a friend to go on a one on one hangout in romantic Cape Cod, Massachusetts? (Hi, Mojo here: I had no idea it was romantic. I'm foreign.) Eventually, Mojo was confronted by his best friend and was encouraged to address our relationship status when we went to Snowy Owl. Mojo had spent the last few days praying for clarity and direction about what to do. "Do I like her? Do I not? Should I ask her out? Should I not?" was his internal dilemma. His quandary spilled into the entire day at Cape Cod and on the drive there and back from Boston. After a moment of clarity with God later that evening followed by heartfelt conversations with his best friend then his mum, he finally got his answer. Fortunately, he still had a chance that night to make things right. We had a plan for him to pick her up from Bible study to go to a friend's housewarming party. Rather than in the cozy vibes of the cafe, Mojo asked Christina out in the steel darkness of the night in the front seat of his car—to which she exclaimed, "FINALLY!" That was just the beginning. We have been blessed to see the gracious and redemptive love of God play out in our story leading up to marriage. We always enjoy sharing the full journey with people, so if you would like to invite us into your work commute, kitchen background, or train ride, please listen to our longer format story shared in the video above! We can't wait to mark this moment in our lives with you.
