We met on the summer night of June 10, 2017, at the last youth conference dance of the trip. Michael was the only boy to ask me to dance that night. The dancing was full of fun, as we laughed and poked fun at each other the entire time. We danced for an hour before they turned the lights on to end the night. Michael ran off after we said goodbye to each other. Then while I was talking to my friends Michael made his way back over to me to ask for my number and social media. As corny as it sounds in that moment, I felt something so special and different that looking back can really only be explained as love at first sight. For this goofy boy who danced and joked with me all night long.
I proposed to Moira in the very church-gym that we met in during a summer youth conference. Granted special permission from the Bishop, I was given a small window of time to pop the question. I had the idea to have a small group of my friends show up a little early to replicate the night we met and change into some suits and dresses I know what you're thinking but just bear with me. We showed up to what I told Moira was a combined youth activity we were going to help with and had her walk Infront of me as I began playing "I'd Rather Be Me (With You)", from Steven Universe. As she turned around as I descended to one knee and popped the big question. Moira embraced me and said "Yes!", as we laughed and cried together. It may not have been the original Hawaii beach proposal I had planned, but this was a thousand times better. We overcame months of having to talk to each other through a window while COVID was in full swing and not being able to hug one another to make it to this point where we could begin the plans to spend the rest of time with one another. We couldn't be more excited to be where we are right now with one another, side by side no matter what.
