Black Tie - We love getting dolled up, and we hope you do too! For women, black-tie dress codes mean a full-length dress or a women's tuxedo (formal jumpsuits work, too). You should pair your look with heels, dressy flats or loafers. For guys, the black-tie dress code means it's time for a tuxedo. This means the full look–a proper dinner jacket, tuxedo pants, appropriate shoes, and the necessary accessories. The weather will most likely be hot during the day, but will cool at night so ladies please bring a jacket or shawl or gents be ready to give up your jacket... Of Note: The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors, but the reception and dancing is inside. Italian Garden Party Attire Ladies, a stylish blouse with a skirt or tailored pants works well or opt for a summer dress. Gents, think a button-down shirt or polo paired with chinos or dark jeans. Add a casual blazer for a bit more sophistication.
We are so glad you asked! Denver is known as the "Mile High City" since the altitude is 5,280 ft and Colorado Springs is a bit higher at 6,300 feet above sea level. We are aiming for all guests to arrive happy and hydrated - but altitude sickness affects about 20% of travelers. Altitude Sickness is often characterized by the symptoms of: • headaches • nausea/vomiting/diarrhea • difficulty sleeping • loss of appetite • fatigue • shortness of breath
• Water, water, water - drink 2-3x as much water as you usually do the day before traveling, while traveling, and while you are in Colorado! • Eat foods high in potassium - foods such as broccoli, bananas, avocado, celery, greens, bran, chocolate will help you replenish electrolytes by balancing salt intake. • Limit caffeine and alcohol for the first day. Yes, golf balls go 10% further up here and so does alcohol! • Take it easy physically - your ability to breath is lower at altitude, think 3 mile run instead of a 5 mile run.
Transportation is provided from the Broadmoor to our wedding at Cheyenne Lodge, which is about a 7 minute bus ride up the mountain, and all guests will be taking shuttles to and from the venue. If you are not staying at the Broadmoor, please plan to arrive to the Broadmoor prior to shuttle departure, via car or Uber/Lyft. Check back for shuttle departure times!
While we're really looking forward to an adults-only gathering, we realize Colorado is a family destination. So, we highly recommend taking advantage of The Broadmoor's onsite Broadmoor Nannies! For more information, check out this link: https://broadmoornannies.com
