Where is the wedding?

Answer

The Lake House at Bulow in John's Island, SC. Check out our Gallery page for a sneak peak video! The ceremony and reception will both be outdoors, although we will have a covered area for dinner and plenty of blankets and heaters.

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

The address is 926 Hughes Road John's Island, SC. Please use the route that takes you down Hughes Road and NOT Bear Swamp Road. There will be a sign out front to let you know when you are in the correct place!

What is the parking situation?

Answer

The parking area is a large, flat field. We will have parking attendants to establish a clear line of parking. From there, it is a short walk to the main portion of the venue.

How early can I arrive?

Answer

We ask that guests arrive at 2:45 pm, 15 minutes before the scheduled ceremony time. Please do not arrive any earlier than 2:30 pm.

Please RSVP by using the included card in your invitation or by emailing your response to misadventureswithmoandmatt@gmail.com by December 23, 2025, or before.

What's the weather like?

Answer

Although South Carolina is warm most of the year, the temperature in January ranges from 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit. In 2018 and 2025 we got SNOW, and though we don't expect it in 2026, we recommend bringing a coat! We will have blankets, a campfire, portable heaters, and hot hands to keep you all comfortable.

What should I wear?

Answer

Anything between Sunday best to formal, warm and comfortable. We want you to feel like a prince or a princess right along with us! We recommend boots and no heels, as the ceremony and reception are outdoors, and will be happy to see you in any color other than any variation of white.

What will there be to drink?

Answer

We WILL have glass bottled coke, sparkling grape juice, sweet tea, water, and an espresso cart with coffee and hot chocolate. We are having a dry wedding! No alcohol will be served, and we ask that you not bring any into the venue.
