On November 19th, Mo got an annoying call that one of his bartenders was out sick, and since it was his place, he had to cover the shift. The first customer of the day, right at 5pm, was Emily, who showed up right on time to meet some friends who were running late. They chatted, Mo definitely flirted, and Emily left without them exchanging information. They would meet again, one month later, back at the bar. This time they would exchange numbers, Mo would rearrange travel plans, and they'd have their first date. And the rest, as they...
On an unassuming visit to see friends in Denver, Emily and Mo, along with their friend Justin, visited Red Rocks Amphitheater. Although the stage was closed "Due To Construction", Justin convinced the crew that Mo and Emily needed the stage for a brief moment. Emily thought they were going to make her sing but when she turned around Mo was down on one knee and had something softer to say, "Emily Fox, will you marry me?" She said, "yes!" then cursed a bit and the happy couple took a bow and toasted to their future at the coolest place to see a concert on this planet, possibly any planet.
In the deep dark depths of COVID episode 1, Mo and Emily decided to tie the knot. So they did it the only way they could and the only way the City and County of San Francisco would allow: on a Monday, at 10am, via Microsoft Teams with a deputy county clerk, in their backyard in the Sunset District of San Francisco. Witnessed by Emily's parents, Miriam and Roger, Mo's parents via videochat, and friends Allison and Brian. Mo wore a Jordan tracksuit and Emily wore white (bike shorts and sweatshirt). While perhaps not the wedding they had envisioned, it bonded them for life, both figuratively and lawfully. Much caviar and champagne was consumed by all!
Looking to celebrate with friends and family as the worst of COVID passed, Emily and Mo reserved Stern Grove, a redwood and eucalyptus grove near their home in San Francisco. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. In September of 2021, 710,000 gallons of drinking water flooded Stern Grove park closing it down for over a year (it's still closed!) and thus forcing Emily and Mo to cancel. Rather than scrambling for a new venue, they decided that they were married enough, loved each other enough, and loved all of you enough. They decided to leave their wedding vows with Melvin from City Hall and instead look forward to celebrating with all of you, wherever you may be, just as soon as possible.
Mo and Emily are still happily living in their little house in the Sunset in San Francisco. Next year, they will move to Berkeley to a multi-generational property with Emily's mom, Miriam, and welcome their little baby girl to the party!
