There are many stories floating around about how we met. Some are boring or suspicious, while others have risen to the ranks of legend. For several of you our origin story conjures images of rattlesnakes on a desert mountain, a helicopter, and heroics. But now is the time to clear the air. Here’s hoping you find the REAL story- the one you all are a part of- equally entertaining. Enjoy! Both of us had moved to Scottsdale, AZ in the summer of 2014 where Marissa worked for Yelp and Steven worked for Milwaukee Tool. One of our first friends was Liz Shine. Steven and Liz met through mutual friends and became hiking buddies. Marissa and Liz worked together. One weekend Liz invited both us on a hike at Camelback Mountain. Interesting fact- Liz went to high school with Morgan McCroson (cousin of the bride). As we became friends, we started navigating the eateries, watering holes and ice cream scene around Scottsdale and eventually started dating. Our first big challenge came when Steven had an opportunity to move to Milwaukee, WI. We questioned how the impending distance would affect our relationship, but found a way through. Marissa moved to Chicago (90 miles away) just 3 months later, and suddenly we were back together navigating the eateries, watering holes and this time, deep dish pizza and cheese curd scenes in Chicago and Milwaukee, respectively. Over the next three years we continued to grow together even while physically apart and finally Marissa moved to the Cream City, as we took the next step in our relationship. Fast forward 2 years - we were married on 11/28/2020 in a small ceremony at Papago Park in Phoenix, AZ. We will kick off the next part of our adventure together when we move to Portland, OR in June 2021. We are looking forward to navigating the breweries, food-trucks and mountain scenery. We are happy to celebrate with all of you in Milwaukee on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
