Our Love is Written in the Stars

We met at secondary school and strangely only noticed each other in 6th Form after being assigned to the same Accounts class. Kamesha, being the model student that she was, never brought the "too heavy" Accounts textbook to school and therefore we ended up sharing my textbook each class. We both grew quite fond of each other until a misunderstanding arose between us which put us at odds; although we still spoke to each other here and there. After leaving Queen's College, it would be ten long years until we would see each other again. It was a week night on which Kamesha had suggested I "pass by for some extra cheesecake cupcakes" she had left over from an order. Up to this point we had only been chatting via whatsapp after being reconnected through a mutual friend. From that night Kamesha knew that her feelings for me had resurfaced. We ended up chatting into the wee hours of the night. From then we grew close again, talking more intensely and hanging out as often as we could. But what would follow over the next few years in our life, would certainly test our resolve to stay together. The birth of a star is an unsteady process; massive outbursts then moments of solemn quiet. Many stars do not survive this birthing process but the strong, steady and stable ones do. Like a star, we started in a cloud of turbulence and explosive passion; but we remained committed to grow and function together. Slowly but surely the light of our star grew steady and no matter how big the outburst, we always settled back down together, shining brighter and hotter, growing stronger with each adversity. The birth of our star was a life changing event, affecting each person in our lives. It was no surprise then, that on yet another starry night, Kamesha said "Yes" to spending the rest of her life with me. In these captured moments, we reflect on our birth, the start of 'us' and the story I will tell our kids of "how I met your mother".
