We like to say our love story started with Mikalyn falling from heaven & me catching her—but the real story starts in 2020. We first matched on Bumble, lost touch, then reconnected on Tinder. Soon after, I asked her out on a date.
I was incredibly nervous, until the most beautiful girl walked by. Hoping it was Mikalyn, I tried to act cool, took off my sunglasses, & exchanged an awkward “Hey!”—but relief washed over once we knew this date was the real deal.
Dinner was great, although I didn’t smile once. She thought I wasn’t into it, when really, I was just very nervous. Afterward, I asked to walk around town & she said yes! I offered my arm, but she handed me her purse instead. I thought I blew it—turns out, she was just tying her shoe. She then took my arm & we walked around town.
Later, she asked what I was most nervous about & replied “this”—then kissed her. Sparks flew. Before she left that night, I asked: “Do you promise to go on a second date with me?”—and the rest is history.
