FAQs

The Wedding Website of Michael Jane Brady and Gavin Smith
Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony starts at 11:00 AM sharp. In true Catholic fashion, things will be running on time, so we recommend arriving by 10:30–10:40 AM to park, find a seat, and mentally prepare for standing, sitting, kneeling, and sitting again.

Question

Why is the ceremony so much earlier than the reception?

Answer

Welcome to the "Catholic gap". Our wedding ceremony needs to be early enough in the day to avoid Saturday evening Mass at the church, but we still wanted a full night to celebrate with everyone at the reception. Consider the afternoon intermission your chance to recharge before the real party starts.

Question

What should I expect at the Catholic ceremony?

Answer

Our ceremony will be a Catholic wedding ceremony rather than a full Mass, so it will be a bit shorter than a traditional wedding Mass. All guests are welcome to participate as they feel comfortable...we’re just happy you’ll be there celebrating with us!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Cocktail attire requested! Please keep in mind the ceremony will take place in a Catholic church, so we recommend dressing a bit more modestly for the ceremony. Guests are absolutely welcome to change before the reception if they’d prefer a slightly less formal or more dance-floor-friendly look for the evening festivities.

Question

Is parking available?

Answer

Yes! Parking will be available at both the church and reception venue. The reception venue is a little more limited, but additional details and directions will be listed closer to the wedding weekend.

Question

What should we do between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Take advantage of the break to relax, check into your hotel, grab lunch or coffee nearby, explore the area, or sneak in a quick nap before the reception.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding day will be an adults-only celebration unless otherwise specified on your invitation. We hope you enjoy a fun night out with us!

Question

Can I take photos throughout the day?

Answer

We kindly ask guests to keep phones and cameras put away during the ceremony so everyone can be fully present with us and respectful of the sacrament we are celebrating. Once the ceremony is over, we would love for you to take all the photos and videos you’d like at the reception!

Question

Will there be alcohol at the reception?

Answer

Of course! There will be dinner, drinks, dancing, and plenty of reasons to stay on the dance floor all night long. The groom is known for his affinity for Coca-Cola, so we'll have plenty of soft drinks too!
