Who knew that the shy yet energetic girl in my Confirmation class would become my future wife? I didn't, that's for sure. It was in 2009 when I first met Janelle Agapito, and then was formally introduced to her in junior year of high school. To say we hit it off immediately would be a lie, as we were both hesitant of committing to a relationship before college. As we began to learn about each other and spend more time together, it was evident to me that this relationship had potential. We made it "Facebook Official" on June 27, 2011.
As you know, I moved to San José while Janelle relocated to Sacramento for college. Between classes, we would constantly check in and made plans to visit each other (mostly her because Sacramento was boring). My turning point in college was when Janelle inspired me to become involved on campus. Why was this so important to me? Well, because Janelle was more interested in pushing me to get out of my comfort zone and grow as a person, when that time/effort could've easily been directed toward her instead. I knew she wanted what's best for me, not what she wanted for herself. Naturally, I knew she was the one. This started a pattern. We began to travel more often when before I wanted to stay home. I dedicated more time focusing on what's important in life rather than worrying about the little things--which I still tend to do at times. I have been exposed to so many positive things in life all thanks to her.
On November 23, 2019, I decided it was time to devote my life to someone who has devoted hers to me all these years. Even though I was a nervous wreck, I was able to blurt out the words after reciting a poem in true Michael fashion. After she said "YES!", I kneeled there motionless waiting for her to grab the ring until she reminded me that it was my job to put the ring on. Next June, she won't have to remind me of anything because I cannot wait to make Janelle mine forever. ---- We couldn't have gotten this far without all the love and support of our family and friends. Thank you for being part of our lives. We can't wait to celebrate our day with you!
