At the Bottom of a Bottomless Mimosa

1/9/2021

Natalie was fired from Salt + Smoke due to being late to work because her ride overslept. A friend picked her up around 10:30 AM on a Saturday morning in January and they set out on a mission to find bottomless mimosas to drink Natalie's sorrows. They called BLT's, and Jeremy answered the phone, assuring them that bottomless mimosas were available (and discounted on Saturdays). So the two girls set out to the restaurant. At the counter, Jeremy took the girls' order. He asked for their IDs so he could confirm that Natalie's face was just as beautiful as her eyes above her COVID mask. He made a silly comment about how they were all born in the same year, 1996, and sent them on their way with a full mimosa glass. Shortly after, Jeremy sent word to all the staff to ensure that Natalie's food was flawless and that her glass never reach below half full. By the end of the meal, Natalie was stumbling, belly full. On her way out, Jeremy gave Natalie his number, leaving the ball in Natalie’s court. That night, while sleeping off her mimosa endeavor, Natalie's friend sent Jeremy the first text. Natalie did not want to reach out, for fear that she would break his heart. Her friend sent Jeremy a text from Natalie’s phone that read, "It's mimosa bitch". From there, history was made.

From Rock Bottom to a Rock on Her Finger

8/11/2025

Though Natalie and Jeremy initially shared a love of a good party, at some point all good parties must come to an end. While Jeremy had some experience living life substance free before meeting her, for Natalie in particular, this was a harsh reality to face. Natalie found herself lost in a bottle, in bad situations and worse moods. Spirits did nothing to cleanse her spirit, and her inability to bear the highs and lows that come with the human experience became a great concern and nuisance to everyone around her, especially Jeremy. Jeremy, an incredibly patient, loving man, had the strength to hold trust that Natalie could find her own way out. He loved her and fought for their future through all of her missteps, because he was wise enough to see that there was a beautiful, honest, and compassionate soul that was calling out for love and safety. They endured many horrible nights that lead to a cycle of attempts to quit drinking, moderate consumption, all of which wound up in a slow crawl into more drinking. Jeremy said something needed to change. In April of 2024, Natalie broke up with Jeremy in a blackout. This breakup became a breakthrough. Natalie realized she was about to throw away the best thing that had ever happened to her. The man whom she felt safe enough to help put the pieces of her life back together, who helped find her a good job and drove her there until she could save up enough to get herself a car. The man who stood by her while she re-enrolled in school. The man who travelled across the world with her family. She’d asked this person to leave her life without any recollection. Something had to change. Natalie resolved to get help, went to rehab within the month, and the couple's sobriety plays a key role in their success. They actively maintain their spiritual wellbeing and God (a Higher Power of their understanding) plays a very important role in their will to carry on with life on life’s terms. Jeremy proposed to Natalie on 8/11/2025, on her 9 month sobriety anniversary, because the couple plan to have children someday soon. Jeremy always had faith that Natalie could maintain her health for a pregnancy, but wanted to see it in action before he made such a commitment. She proved to him that she was worth the investment of his time and his heart. He proved to her that he could be trusted and leaned on in times of strife. In each other, they find safety, security, and a solid bedrock upon which to take off and soar.
