(*Besides the story: Probably she said ‘yes’ coz of Mangoes) New York has a funny way of bringing people together when they least expect it. We didn't know each other when we both moved to NYC to pursue the next stages of our career and education. Despite living in the same city, our paths never crossed. I was taking a few extra management classes at a local university. I was looking for carpooling options, so I started asking around if someone has got a spot in their car. I ended up in Mithila’s group. So, we got introduced by luck. There was never a tone of the conversation where I felt like we were interested to know each other. Fast forward that couple of months I asked Mithila if she would like to hang out on any of the weekends in New York. She took a good time to respond to that. I remember we quickly switched gears to meet again. As we swapped stories and life anecdotes for the next couple of dates, two things became very clear: Life is so much fun with her and I love her. Sometimes I sit back and think for a second about the astronomical odds we overcame just to meet. It had to be the same city, the same school, and the same week. Not to mention, to have any shot at a serious relationship after the first few dates, we had to live relatively close to one another. Mangoes: We are complete opposites: I am not a planner; I am rough, and she is gentle. We do not like the same fruits (except one) but I still think she said yes because I am in the mango business and she loves the mangoes. I think this is it. The rest as they say (no matter how cheesy it is), is history. This most amazing soul worked her way into my heart and will be there forevermore.
