We met in January 2015 while training for IronMan Texas 2015. About 60 or more riders would show up for the 50-70 mile training ride. Many riders would take off early, those faster riders doing the 70 mile route, while those at a lower pace doing 50 miles would follow. As the ride progresses, riders tend to stretch out over the miles and you soon find yourself with a pack that is your pace. Well, I found myself with one other person that I had never seen before, Eric. At times when we could ride side-by-side, we would chat and got to know each other. At the end of the ride, we decided to have lunch and we quickly became good friends and training partners....run, bike, swim together 5 days a week for several months. As IronMan approached we became closer and promised to start the race together. Six-thirty in the morning we hugged and started our IM journey for the day. After successfully finishing the race, I felt like Eric was my best friend and had been by my side throughout these 4 months.... so we decided to go ahead and give dating a try. Well.... Over 3 years later, Eric convinced me to start a new "training program" of a 50 mile ride and 2 mile run (walk at this point).... so I fell for it. It's not easy riding 50 miles after being off the bike for a year...LOL!!! But at the end of the ride and the start of our walk, he reminded me that this was the same route as the first day we ever met, and I reminded him that this was the same route we ran, as well!
