Sometime during high school, we met in Gallatin and quickly became fast friends. Our love story began to develop, but the timing was never right. We went our separate ways after high school, until Shelby returned from college back to Gallatin. Mitchell spontaneously asked Shelby on a date, which he often did, and she accepted. We were inseparable ever since and still enjoy dates over Mexican food!
After moving into our first home in September 2020, we knew our first gathering at our home would be a Halloween party. It's Shelby's favorite holiday and a week after her birthday. We invited all of our friends for a Housewarming/Birthday/Halloween celebration. Little did Shelby know, this would also become an engagement party! Mitchell's mother, Kelly, insisted Shelby open her and Mitchell's joint gift in front of everyone. She thought it was kind of strange, but went along with it anyway. After unbagging some cute throw pillows, she looked around rather confused. When she turned around, Mitchell was standing there with the most beautiful ring! The best part of the whole engagement was that Mitchell was dressed as Joe Exotic, the Tiger King, and Shelby was dressed as a tiger. Our proposal will forever be remembered with photos of Mitchell with a full mullet and faux nose ring. It was a 2020 engagement to remember!
