Mitchell and Kelly’s story began in the small town of Spalding, Nebraska—Kelly’s hometown and a place already close to Mitchell’s heart, as his father grew up there too. As a child, Mitchell often made trips to Spalding to help his grandpa on the farm, never knowing those visits would lead him to meet the girl who would one day become his forever. At just 12 years old, Mitchell and Kelly shared their first kiss at Mitchell’s grandparents’ home—a place that would later become even more special when Mitchell asked Kelly to marry him there. Growing up, the two remained close, always staying in touch and holding onto a meaningful friendship. Though life eventually took them in different directions, fate had other plans.
