The Garage is a food court on the north end of Mass Ave, a popular downtown street full of local restaurants, bars and shops. The Garage Food Hall has a wide variety of local food vendors, all with delicious food, plus a few different bars. The building is a very old Coca-Cola bottling facility that was renovated into the food court, several restaurants, several shops, and a boutique hotel. It’s a must see of modern Indianapolis! It is also home to our favorite gyros in the city at Mama Fofo's.
This is an arcade bar right in the heart of downtown Indy at the start Mass Ave. There is pinball, ski ball, and so many arcade games, all free to play. If you want to go out at night for a drink, there are plenty of options on Mass Ave and 16 bit is a great starting point.
This historic monument contains a museum of all the wars of America. It’s like a timeline you walk through that is full of displays and scene recreations of moments throughout the various wars. If you like history it is worth stopping by, and it's free!
The actual center of Indianapolis’s downtown is the Soldiers and Sailors monument. A common name for Indy is the Circle City, this is because of the circular road that goes around this monument at the center of the city. It is 1 block from the hotel and hard to miss, definitely go check out the fountains at the monument.
Check out the Indiana state house where the state legislature conducts it sessions. Typically open to the public, check out the website for more details if you’d like to visit.
Also the NCAA headquarters, this museum of sports history is a fun place to go see the history of the NCAA and play with some interactive exhibits. If you’re a sports fan and want to kill some time, this is a fun stop. It is also next to the white river state park, a massive riverside park with great views of the river and skyline, it’s also just across the river from the zoo.
The white river state park is a massive riverside park with great views of the river and Indy skyline, it’s also just across the river from the zoo. There are nice and safe walking paths along the river too if you’re a runner or want to go for a long walk downtown.

The best pizza in Indianapolis. Try the gabba ghoul if you like a little spicy and meaty pizza. The salads are also great!
The best bagels in Indianapolis. We’ve tried just about every one and they are all great. If the special of the week is the blueberry or chocolate, go for it and you will not be disappointed. They also make their own cream cheese smears.
The canal downtown is a great place for a walk away from the roads while still being downtown. The canal runs north/ south and is very close to both the venue on the north end and the hotel on the south end. A valuable option for a walk home from the wedding reception that is well lit and safe at night that will take you from the venue to the hotel in about 15-20 minutes.
Great little local Italian restaurant, everything is delicious. The rigatoni with spicy vodka sauce dish is our favorite.
Just South of downtown Indy this is a huge park close to our new house. There is a conservatory with tropical plants, lots of walking paths, an amphitheater, a small water park, community center with indoor courts, basketball courts and playgrounds.
