We met in college at UNG where my best friend, Alexis, actually introduced us. He was driving around in a golf cart wearing a highlighter reflective vest while working for Campus Police. During winter break, I accidentally waved at Eric on Facebook which led to us talking more. When we went back to school, Alexis kept arranging for a group of us to hang out on campus. Eventually Eric finally got his act together and asked me out on a date. We went to this cute little Italian restaurant in Dahlonega’s town square. A couple weeks later, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and the next day we went to my sorority’s formal dance.
Eric had planned a vacation in May for us and another couple to go to Destin, Florida. I did not think he was going to propose on this vacation because we had one planned for later in the summer with my family. Eric and I went down earlier than the other couple. On the day the other couple came down, Eric and I were already down on the beach. He forced me to stay on the beach while he went up to the condo to get Will and Bre. They came down, and we were all hanging out on the beach. Later in the day, it looked like a storm was starting to come our way. I told Eric we should probably start to pack up. He then walked over to me and said, "Come with me." I immediately knew what he was going to do, and I refused to get off the chair. It was about to storm, I was in a bathing suit that I didn’t really like, and my hair was wild. He then showed me the ring box and told me to come on. We then awkwardly walked down towards the ocean. Once we got to the water, he got down on one knee and said, "Will you marry me?" Obviously, I said yes! We hugged, took pictures, and then ran to the truck because it started to rain. It was perfectly imperfect.
