We're getting married!

Circa 1997 Our story began at Slater Elementary School, where we first met in Mrs. Lowe’s kindergarten classroom. We learned and played together as any kid did at that age, not yet aware of where our story would go. Bert’s family would often tease him about Lulu being his girlfriend. Sadly, Lulu transferred schools after kindergarten and we parted ways for many years. But that would not be the end of our story. Summer 2010 One day, Bert received a message on Facebook from Lulu. “Hi! I found our kindergarten picture and decided to contact you!” We talked non-stop and, eventually, set up a date to meet each other and we instantly connected. We began dating for a short period of time, but Bert went off to college and things were complicated. But love always finds its way and we crossed paths once again! After rekindling our romance, we have been together for 7+ years. The Proposal Marriage has always been on both of our minds throughout our relationship. The question on Bert's mind was, “How will I propose?” After careful thought and consideration, Bert figures out his plan. He decided to throw Lulu the prom she never had! Lulu went to a Christian school and many events, like school dances, were never celebrated. So this turned out to be the perfect way to propose. With the help of Bert and Lulu’s family, the surprise prom became a reality on November 9, 2019. With our families and some close friends in attendance, we were crowned King and Queen and had our first dance to “From This Moment On”. By the end of the song, Bert was down on one knee, holding out the ring. With tears in both of our eyes, Lulu said, “YES!”
