As most Texans know, The Guadalupe River in July is many things as it flows through the Hill Country town of New Braunfels. A place where people from all over Texas come to float the river, enjoy a cold beer, sing along to country music and attempt to escape the 100 degree weather. The Guadalupe was all of those things for Mirna and Marshall in July of 2019, but what started out as a quick weekend away to enjoy the summer turned into something much more. It started out like any other river trip, both Marshall and Mirna had been invited by a mutual friend to make the trip to New Braunfels. They loaded up in Marshall's pickup, coolers full of ice cold miller lite, and from the backseat Mirna began to notice Marshall's sneaking glances in the rearview mirror. After a few hours on the river and dinner at the famous Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar, the group headed to historic Gruene Hall to finish the night with some live music. Aided by a bit of liquid courage and the sweet sound of "American country-soul, swamp funk" band, Shinyribs, Marshall finally decided that he had too much fun to only let it last one weekend. Although, in Mirna's words, her first impression of Marshall was that he was a "dork," She agreed to let him take her to dinner. A week later Marshall drove from Kemah to College Station and the couple enjoyed dinner and a night of two-stepping at Hurricane Harry's. As they say, the rest is history. Marshall and Mirna were engaged in July, 2020 at Bonzai Rock in South Lake Tahoe, California and are excited to start their journey as man and wife.
