“Hey. Get your smelly feet out of my face.” This is the first thing I can remember saying to my now-fiance. I’m sure it wasn’t the first thing that I ever said to her, but it’s the first thing I remember. We were in a Shakespearean monologue class at NYU. I was a senior and she was a junior. I thought she was cute, but I knew that she had a long-term boyfriend so I was trying not to flirt with her. “Excuse me?” she says. “Your boots are two inches from my face.” We were in a black box theater. She was sitting in the row of seats behind with her feet crossed on top of the chair next to me. I think I pushed her feet away. With a smile, of course. Couldn’t help myself. A month later, we shared our first kiss (after she’d broken up with her boyfriend, of course). Four months after that, I visited her in London during her semester abroad. Two months after that, she came back to the city and I asked her to be my girlfriend. She said yes. Five years after that, as the sun set on the beaches of Barcelona, I asked her to be my wife. Again, she said yes. So here we are. Five plus years of being by each others’ side. Five years of making each other laugh, and sometimes cry. Five years of growing together and refusing to allow the more challenging times to separate us. Five years of smiles, hugs, kisses, and cuddles. Five years of late night cheese fries. Five years of getting better at listening to each other when we fight. Five years of being hopelessly, helplessly, stupidly in love with each other. I want five thousand years more of it all, but no one lives that long - so we’re doing the best we can. I proposed to Miriam on June 3rd of 2017. We will marry each other on October 7th of 2018. That’s when our journey really begins, and we cannot wait to share it with every single one of you. See you there. -Miriam & Andrew
