We started as coworkers at Aldi in 2019 where we bonded over the fact that we were both training for the Detroit half marathon that fall. In 2020 we both decided that we wanted to train and race a full marathon and running together sounded better than running alone. Running together became our excuse to hang out outside of work. The first time I met Zach's family was being invited to dinner after we ran fifteen miles together (a platonic fifteen miles). We officially started dating a week later and our platonic runs turned into running dates. We got together just as Covid hit the U.S so running together was just about the only thing we could do. Five years, many half marathons, and backpacking trips later we are getting married!
