Question

I've never been to an Indian wedding, what should I expect?I've never been to an Indian wedding, what should I expect?

Answer

You're in for a vibrant, joyful, and unforgettable experience! Indian weddings are colorful, high-energy celebrations steeped in tradition, family, music, and food. Here’s what you can expect: Haldi Ceremony (pre-wedding): A joyful, often messy event where turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom for good luck and glowing skin. Expect yellow attire, laughter, and casual fun. Sangeet: A party full of music, dancing, and performances from friends and family. Think Bollywood meets talent show meets dance party. Wedding Ceremony: A sacred, symbolic ritual—often under a mandap (canopy)—with chants, fire, and blessings. Reception: A more formal event with dinner, dancing, and speeches, similar to Western wedding receptions. You can refer to our schedule for event-specific details and attire.

Question

What sort of weather should I anticipate for the event? What sort of weather should I anticipate for the event?

Answer

Scottsdale in January offers beautiful desert sunshine with daytime highs typically in the mid 60s to low 70s, and cooler evenings in the 40s. Rain is rare and the skies are usually clear and sunny. We recommend bringing layers - think light jackets or shawls. All of our events will be indoors except the Baraat & Hindu Ceremony.
