A band, A Show, and an Evening to Remember

On April 17th, 2010, two people crossed paths at a local music festival. I was 17, and had gone to see bands play in our hometown, and he was 19, and the keyboardist for one of the bands, called Born Forty. I saw them play for the first time that afternoon, and after their set, I realized that I recognized one of their band members, their drummer, from high school. As I walked up to say hello, their keyboardist, Hunter, approached me, and we struck up a conversation, realizing that we both recognized each other from high school. After that conversation, I was invited to see their evening show, which was for the Statesboro Battle of the Bands competition. A few hours later, I found myself front row, watching Born Forty play again, and also win, the Battle of the Bands! From that night, a friendship on social media formed between us, and we talked back and forth throughout the summer. By winter of that year, we began to hang out with each other, and on December 14th, 2010, he asked me to be his girlfriend. 8 years later, while celebrating our anniversary at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, he asked me to “take a selfie in the snow” with him, and snuck a ring into the photo behind me. When I realized what he had done, I didn’t even give him a chance to actually ask the question, as I cried and screamed “YES!” Now, almost two years to the day, we are celebrating 10 years and forever together!
