Lincoln Cemetery

Long Lane, Gettysburg, PA 17325

When the Soldiers' National Cemetery was established in 1863, it was segregated. As a result, African-American community leaders established the Sons of Goodwill Cemetery in 1867. Located on Long Lane in the heart of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania the cemetery, now known as Lincoln Cemetery, is the final resting place of thirty soldiers of the United States Colored Troops who fought in the Civil War, as well as other notable African-American citizens of the borough.
