Our story started one random Saturday afternoon while we were working a shift at Boston Pizza. Daniel was casually leaning against the host booth, half-watching the Montreal Canadiens game on TV, while I was busy vacuuming and wiping down tables. I walked up to him and said, “Hey, my dad’s a fan of the Canadiens too.” Classic me, trying to make conversation. He didn’t say much in return (just shared a few hockey stats), but in his defense, he was a shy 16-year-old and didn’t have a lot to say yet. After a few more shifts together, we started talking more and more. Eventually, Daniel asked for my number. I tried convincing him to hang out after school, but he always claimed he was “too busy.” (Still not sure what he was so busy with!) Finally, on December 12, 2016, he agreed to come to the mall with me and my friends. We had the best time. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard. One of the funniest moments was when he ordered a Mighty Kale smoothie from Jugo Juice, clearly trying to impress me. If you know Daniel, you know how out-of-character that was, this is the guy who lives off Delissio pizza and buffalo chicken fingers! From that day on, we started hanging out all the time. We even went ice skating with our friends, and on December 30, 2016, he asked me to be his girlfriend. That was the beginning of something pretty amazing. Since then, we’ve made so many unforgettable memories, celebrated huge milestones, and grown so much together. Looking back, it’s hard to believe how far we’ve come, and now, we couldn’t be more excited for the next chapter: saying “I do.”
