Way back in 2020, Miranda decided she wanted to move back to Baltimore, so the job search began. After many interviews, a pandemic, and impatience, Miranda decided to accept an offer at an outpatient PT clinic. A few weeks in, she was shadowing at another office in the company; she was sitting in the office and in walked this tall, and very cute, PT who immediately caught her eye. After introductions, the two got to talking about work, school, where we lived, and much to a surprise - mutual friends. After the day ended, Miranda could not stop thinking about Charlie - how easy conversation was, how nice he was, and how he would sit at his desk and sing while he worked. She decided the perfect opportunity to talk to him more was to send him an email discussing a patient, and after a few back and forths she decided to "casually" drop her number at the end of an email (with a :) at the end, not a heart which is the story Charlie likes to tell). Another month went by with a few texts or snapchats, but Charlie was moving a bit too slow for Miranda. She decided to "shoot her shot" and ask Charlie out on a date after work one night - not before she texted a mutual friend to ask if he was single, which he was! - he accepted and planned for the two to go to Crooked Crab Brewery. After a few beers and great conversation, there was an awkward hug goodbye (Charlie wanted to keep things "professional"), and they parted ways. Another couple of days passed with texts, and with an upcoming Thanksgiving break Miranda wanted to see Charlie again, so naturally, Miranda asked Charlie on another date! More drinks, conversation, and Charlie singing... the night went great and the rest is history! (And Charlie started asking Miranda on dates too).
Hi everyone, it’s me, the groom. Let me tell you all about the proposal, because boy was it a whirlwind of a couple months! It all began when Miranda and her mom went to Georgetown to try on engagement rings and get a better idea of what she wanted, which became very helpful in picking out what I got her! After she gave me the sheet with all the details of what she wanted in a ring, I got right to work (literally right after she handed it to me when she walked in the door). Those of you who know me well know that I went full “Uncut Gems” right then and there and became a subject matter expert in all things diamonds. After many weeks of a nauseating amount of back and forth between diamonds, I pulled the trigger on one that I thought special. On my ride home from work that evening there was a beautiful rainbow over what a just a few months prior became our home - I took this as a sign of approval from someone/ ones up there. Now that the ring was secured, it was on to planning! As my parents would be able to tell you, I was also painstakingly indecisive about this as well. After going through a minor meltdown to find the perfect spot, a moment of revelation came when my cousins, Pat and Kat, recommended Terrapin Nature Park just off Rte 50 next to the Eastern Shore side of the Bay Bridge. To confirm that this was “the place”, I took Milo with me to the park 3 weeks prior when Miranda was on her sister-in-law’s bachelorette party; probably wasn’t the best day to do this however because it was 95 degrees with high humidity and Milo was not being a particularly good boy. After scoping the grounds and finding the spot, the “day of” planning began. Dianna (Miranda's mom) was gracious enough to lend her photography skills for the evening, and rent a heavy duty camera lens to capture the perfect moment (which she practiced with by taking glam shots of Frank the week prior)! As the morning of June 4, 2022 commenced, Miranda unknowingly went to work and I began to prepare for our inconspicuously detailed picnic! I drew a “treasure map” to help lead Dianna and Frank to the spot, I prepared a full 5 course picnic with champagne and a little snack that had some significance (you’ll have to ask me later what it was!) Once Miranda was home, she definitely did not notice my nervousness, not one bit! We got there, walked to the picnic spot, and began what was only supposed to be a date night out. After much fiddling and relocating of the ring, the time officially came for the proposal. The plan was right at 7:00pm to be on the bridge for the proposal (but first came a bathroom break). On our way to the bridge whilst keeping Miranda away from my back right pocket, a minor miscommunication put Dianna hiding in the marsh weeds directly in our path’s line of sight! After a Houdini-like misdirection by myself, Miranda was none the wiser and all of a sudden we were center stage under the spotlight. To be honest, I don’t remember much of this part (and, to my credit, neither does Miranda), but what I do remember is telling her that she makes me the happiest man on earth and I am excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend (thank goodness she said yes!) Safe to say it was the best day of my life and Miranda was over the moon.
