After never meeting Boyd in person, and only seeing him in the hallways, I made the first move and decided to message him on Facebook. The conversation went better than anticipated, and we found ourselves texting daily and seeing each other between classes. While this initial relationship didn't last long, we kept in touch through our mutual friends at school. Moving to the end of 2012, Boyd took newspaper, and I was on the yearbook team in Mr. Lib's classroom. While I wasn't technically in the class, I would frequently help edit the newspaper articles and even skip my Spanish class to do so. Boyd and I's friendship started to blossom in room 506 into eventually a relationship after a grand New Year's Eve celebration in 2013. Boyd went to UVA the following August, causing us to be apart while I finished my senior year. The following year, I went to UMW. We supported each other 68 miles apart through every biology class, college party, birthday, and family gathering. After I graduated in 2018, we were both living with our parents back at home in Hanover for the first time since 2013, both working full-time jobs. In 2019, Boyd was accepted to Liberty University to pursue his doctorate in medicine, his ultimate goal since I had met him. Throughout our years of being apart, we learned to trust each other and grow up individually but also together - and we cherished every moment spent over many short weekend visits and holiday breaks. Moving to 2021, we got the news that Boyd would be spending his third year hospital rotations in Petersburg, meaning that we would finally be in the same city! In July, we got engaged in the special Outer Banks, and we moved into our apartment in Richmond the following week. 2023 will mark an entire decade of our relationship! We would not have been able to make it as a couple without the support from all of our friends and family throughout this journey of ours. We are so happy and thankful to have so many loved ones in our life and we cannot wait to celebrate with each of you!
