During Miranda's first semester of college, she began to search for cute and adventurous Christian boys. Naturally, she found a Colorado School of Mines church group. Although she didn't go to Mines, they welcomed her in because the school population is over 70 % guys. After months of being in the same church group together, finally, Banks and Miranda had their first spark! The church group was getting together to watch the movie The Greatest Showman and drink margaritas. Before the movie started, Banks and Miranda already couldn't stop laughing and giggling together. After a couple more movies and many more laughs Banks still wasn't picking up the signals that Miranda was sending.

At the end of 2018, Banks and Miranda attended a church gala with their church group. Banks asked Miranda to dance for the first time, still clueless as to what that meant to her. Quickly after, Banks left for most of 2019 to study abroad in New Zealand and to hike the JMT.

After Miranda patiently waited for Banks to come back, he was still clueless so the church group had to intervene. The two leaders of the church group, Daniel and Josiah, pulled Banks aside in a dark corner of the church to tell him bluntly that Miranda liked him and that he should make a move! Banks got nervous and proceeded to reject Miranda a few days later. A week later, Banks began to regret his decision and had to text Miranda. It was snowing that day so he asked her if she wanted to be warm or cold. She said, "warm" so Banks decided that it would be a good time to go for a hike. Even though Miranda was annoyed and had gone through a few stages of grief already, she reluctantly agreed.

After a few "friend dates" AKA rock climbing together. Banks' eyes were beginning to open. After a difficult first pitch of a rock climb in Eldorado Canyon State Park in Boulder, called Yellow Spur, Banks and Miranda sat side by side on a ledge about 50 feet off the ground. As they sat there watching the sun set, Banks began to fall in love. A few days later, November 11, 2019, they went on their first date; Garbonzo's fast food and watched The Incredibles 2 together.

After dating for 3.5 years and many adventures later, including backpacking in the Wind River Range in Wyoming, climbing Half Dome in Yosemite, and many days of skiing and mountain biking, Banks proposed to Miranda in a similar setting, in the foothills of Littleton, Colorado.
