Sarah and Allen met at an El Shaddai conference at the LA Convention Center. During the lunch break, all the youth were hanging outside near the Starbucks. Allen came up to Sarah and asked "Is it OK if I get to know you better?" The two sat down and continued talking. After about 20 min, Allen asked for Sarah's number. Sarah had a cell phone at the time, but didn't want to get charged long distance calling. Thinking that he probably wouldn't call, she gave him her home phone number in Vegas. She wrote it on his arm, in eyeliner, because she did not have a pen handy. Sarah then said, "I told my friend I take pictures with cute boys. Can I take a picture with you?" To her surprise, Allen did call. He called that same night, but since Sarah wasn't home, she didn't get the call. Then he called again the next day, when she was home. The two continued talking at night, specifically at 7:00pm because that's when Sarah's minutes were free. They made their relationship official the very next time they saw each other in person, on July 6, 2003. There's been many ups and downs. About 12 years of their relationship was long distance. A large part of their relationship was traveling to see each other via Greyhound bus, Southwest Airline, Amtrak, & lots of hours driving. Allen lived in LA while Sarah moved from Las Vegas, to San Diego, to San Francisco, back to San diego, then to LA finally in 2015. Now they spend their time going to the gym, food adventures, and finding the best ube desserts.

Allen took Sarah on a surprise trip to St. Maarten the week of June 30 - July 7. Allen let Sarah know that they where going on a trip for the week, but kept the location a surprise until they arrived at the gate. Sarah had a bit of an idea because Allen's best friend, Juan, and sisters, Irish and Paula, came along. The whole trip Sarah didn't know when or how it was going to happen, but was just going with the flow. On July 5, They spent the day at the beach and then went on a sunset cruise boat trip. When they got back to the hotel, Allen just told Sarah to get ready and that dinner would be in an hour. They all walked down to the beach towards the diner. Getting closer to the diner Sarah noticed there were candles on the ground and heard Babyface - Everytime I Close My Eyes, playing in the background. When Sarah finally was able to read the candles that spelled out "Will You Marry Me", she turned around and Allen was down on one knee. This all happened thanks to the staff at Belair Beach Hotel.
