Pyrgi is a unique village on Chios known as the "painted village" due to the carved and painted patterns displayed on the houses.
The Monastery of St. Markella (patron saint of Chios) is located along a beautiful sandy-stone beach in the northern region of Chios. The sea side is known for its cold deep waters, and there is a path that leads to the saint's site of martyrdom at the far end of the beach.
