Flight
For those flying in from afar, the nearest major airports are Glasgow Airport (2 hour drive / 3 hour by train) and Edinburgh Airport (1 hour 15 drive / 1 hour 45 by train). Alternatively, you can fly into one of the London airports (e.g. Heathrow or Gatwick) and make your way up to Scotland by train or car, if you plan to do additional travel before/after the wedding.
Train
There are direct trains to Leuchars, the nearest train station to St. Andrews, from Edinburgh (journey time of around 1 hour) as well as from London (journey time of around 6 hours). For guests travelling by train from East Anglia, consider travelling via London or Peterborough, which has direct trains to Edinburgh. For guests flying into Glasgow and travelling on by train, the most direct route is a train to Edinburgh (journey time of around an hour), followed by a train from Edinburgh to Leuchars. Leuchars train station has regular buses running to St. Andrews (10-15 minute journey), including the 99, 94, 94A, and 42A (all operated by Stagecoach).
Rental Car
If you plan to rent a car over your visit, we would recommend doing so in Edinburgh or Glasgow, where you will have plenty of options to choose from (in particular at the airports).
Hotel
We recommend staying either in St. Andrews (the nearest major town), Crail (a nearby fishing village), or Anstruther (the next town along the coast from Crail).
